There once was a bumble bee...

on the dash of the truck.

I saw this idea a few weeks ago... and LOVED IT. 

Now, I'm usually not into overly adorable prop baby photos, but honestly, that is just too adorable!

So I set out to figure out a pattern.... because, well, lol, I'm cheap, and by the time I talked myself into maybe buying it, it had been taken off etsy. 

But that's okay, because other than the antennae (which I put aside until this weekend), it's pretty basic crocheting.   I made two of the bums and one of the hats on our trip to Manti... I have to make one more hat and two sets of antenna, and then they are complete!

Oh, one more obstacle... I don't have a baby OR a photography studio. 

So why on earth did I make them???? 

To give away, duh!!  I'm hoping the new owners will share a picture of the complete getup with a cute little baby as the model!

I don't really WRITE patterns, but if you're a crochet type of person, and want me to give you the basic idea, let me know... I can 'splain it... and maybe even try and type it up if you want to test the pattern!

Current Obsession

For some reason, even though it's summer and hot, I'm loving crocheting.

It's normally a winter thing for me... soft yarn weaved into warm hats, blankets, etc.

Well... I went into one of my favorite yarn shops (Kamille's in Gardner Village) the other day and saw these ADORABLE little hats. 

Free pattern with purchase!!!  And well, who can go into Kamille's and walk out empty handed, right??

Baby Crafts

A pregnant friend ask me if I could make her a few photography props she had seen on Etsy.   They were fun, quick projects... and super simple once I figured out the basic idea!

Remember THIS post?

Remember how I used the word OBSESSED??? I tried for weeks to figure out HOW it was made, couldn't get it. 

Well, yesterday, I got a package in the mail from my parents:

Oh, and the best part is, now that I've seen it, I KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT!!! 

So this is a beautiful, warm winter scarf... but after I finish at least 3 or 4 of my "in progress" projects, I will be making one with smaller balls to wear like a necklace.

Oh, I so love it.  I'm not even a scarf person, but I just L.O.V.E. it!

Hooked (Yes, that is a groaner pun!)

So!  I love baskets.  And containers.  And little tins.   And enamel bowls.  Sigh.

Lately, I have really been in love with these.  Except that they are just a little too boring and white.

I bought some Lily Sugar and Cream a few weeks ago with the plan of teaching Evan how to crochet so he could make washcloths and such as Christmas gifts.  He was in to it for about 30 seconds.  Now not so much. 

So, I decided to take over one of the skeins and created this!

So, no real pattern...  Started by chaining 20, then single crocheted until it was square.  That formed the bottom.  To make the transition to the sides, double crochet all the way around, then front post single crochet in each double crochet.  After that, just single crochet around and around until you have a size you like.  Occasionally, check the sides... I found that I had to decrease on the corners about every 5th row to keep the corners "crisp".   

This basket took me about 3 hours... perfect late night movie project.

Current Project

I'm officially 1/2 done with the current BIG project. 

It got put aside over Christmas, but I've had it on my mind since October. 

The boys make it difficult to work on, as you can see...

It's a nice heavy 4x4 afghan... very warm, heavy... perfect for laying across your lap on a cold winter day!  I'm loving the "fall" earth tones... sad that it's a gift, because each time I finish a row I fall more and more in love with it! 

Promise to post a finished picture... as soon as I get a chance to finish it!
