St Patty' Visitor

It's late, but on St Patrick's Day, a visitor came to our house. Evan thinks that the Leprechaun must have gotten confused by the plant and the rainbow stripes on the place mat because a pot of gold was "hidden" on our kitchen table.

One year ago....

I was 35 weeks into Ryan's pregnancy. And I weighed almost the same as I do now.

Okay, not really. I'm still about 15 lbs shy of my heaviest Ryan weight. But I've gained about 15 lbs since I went back to work.

Slowly, this week, I'm starting my diet. I plan to utterly blow it with chocolate birthday cake on Saturday, but I figured I might was well START rather than saying "After the party..."

Spring is good diet weather. I actually enjoy eating salads and light food when everything is turning green outside.

I'm announcing it to hold myself accountable. I will NOT gain a single pound more. I will loose 15 lbs by.... mmmmm.... Let's say my birthday (that's about 2 lbs a week, totally do able).

Ready, Set, GO!

Mouth Update

Finally! Two minutes on the computer BY MY SELF! Seriously, between the boys in my house, I rarely get to type without someone climbing on me or begging for me to do something!

But, back to my mouth.

No cavities. No dental problems.

In fact, the Dentist told me I have "one in a million" mouths. Full set, including my wisdom teeth, without a blemish or bad root in the mix. And that with only visitng the dentist once in my life. Guess good things CAN come from having a big mouth!!

The problem is my sinuses. The xrays showed that two of the roots from my front molars intrude into the floor of the sinus cavity (which is fairly normal), and the infection is still there. It's good that I went in, because prolonged exposure to the infection could have infected the roots and I could have lost some of those oh so perfect teeth!

He gave me an antibiotic, and said to call if I finished the round of drugs and my mouth was still hurting. However, considering where I was describing the pain and what he saw on the xrays, he's pretty sure that's the only problem.

Then he cleaned my teeth. OUCH! That was NOT pleasant!

When he was showing me out, he had me set up my next appointment... I jokingly said "In 14 years?" He just laughed and turned the calendar to September and made me pick a date.

I guess I'm joining the ranks of regular dentist vistors.

My Mouth Hurts

Tigger, Don't read this, I'll be embarrassed.

So, my mouth hurts. A lot. But mostly just between the hours of 7:30 am and 10 am. Then it goes away. I tried eating different things, but that doesn't really change the feeling. (Mostly, it feels like a lot of pressure in my upper jaw, and one of my teeth feels wiggly.)

Tigger, are you still reading??? I told you to stop.

I told myself it was probably just a leftover from the sinus pressure (I had a major league sinus infection recently.) That was two weeks ago. My nose is getting better (and I haven't had a sinus headache in at least a week), and my teeth are getting worse. It's making my jaw hurt too.

I'm pretty sure something is wrong in my mouth.

Tigger, please stop.

I have a confession.

I haven't been to the dentist since I was 19. Lets not add up how many years ago that was, but it's been more than a decade. (TIGGER!!!! I said to STOP!)

I don't really have problems with my teeth, and for awhile I didn't have dental insurance, and then when I got it, it had been years, and my teeth seemed fine, so I didn't go.

I called once, but my appointment was like 2 months out, and I ended up having to cancel it. And I never rescheduled.

But I did find a nice dentist that agreed to see me tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure it's my sinuses, but I figured with years and years of neglect, that it wouldn't be a bad idea to see a dentist anyway. I'm bracing for a lecture. (Tigger, if you're still reading this, I don't floss as often as I should EITHER! So THERE!)

And if it is my sinuses, maybe he'll be really nice and give me antibiotics so I don't have to go to the doc too. (I can hope, right?)
