Exploding Pyrex

So, Dinner was coming along PERFECTLY. Everything was on track to finish together so everything would be warm. I couldn't have planned better (esp since it was rather last minute!).

And then it was time to make the gravy.

Now, I always try and stretch the turkey drippings and broth with a package of gravy mix... which requires one cup of cold water.

I pulled my trusty pyrex measuring cup out of the cupboard, and as I reached to turn on the faucet, the turkey timer went off, and I turned to look at it... and the pyrex flew out of my hand and hit the edge of the sink... which is surrounded by granite counter tops. Well, just as it hit the edge, I grabbed for it, and it shattered in my hands.

Nice.

Luckily almost everything was done.

The sweet potatoes were the only real victim. They were suppose to come out during the 20 or so minutes it took to get my very cut up hands bandaged. There is one gash on my right pinky that is pretty deep... and I thought about getting stitches, but decided not too... now I'm wishing I had. It's still not closed up very well, and since it's on my right hand, and close to the bottom, on the inside,it's hard to keep it protected. Right now it's buddy taped to my ring finger, which seems to be helping. Hopefully it will be better closed by Monday.

WHERE has the year gone?

Maybe it's the fact that we still have green grass, but I'm really really struggling with the fact that today is the 22nd of November.

I have an eight month old son.

Evan is in first grade.

Mark has been "on his own" for work for just shy of a year now.

I have been way to caught up in just getting through each day this year. I need to focus more on enjoying each day.

Ha! Easier said than done!

????????

So here's the email I got from Evan's teacher today:

We had a little problem today. The recess worker said he was going to the restroom outside. She asked him did he know where the restroom was and he said yes. Evan said he didn't know you weren't suppose to do that.

HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO RESPOND TO THAT????????

School Pictures!

Evan is way to grown up in this picture. I want my baby boy back. He seriously has no little boy left in him, all his baby fat is gone... which I'm sure is good for him, but it makes his mom a little heart sick.
Ryan, well, I guess Ryan makes up for it in the baby fat department! He's such a little ham!

Halloween, a little late.

Originally, I was going to make Evan a Jedi robe, then he changed his mind and wanted to be Darth Vader... and we found this costume. The lightsaber, of course, we had.

Ryan was suppose to be a bee... and I made him a cute little costume at the beginning of the month... which he promptly out grew. So instead, he went as this:

He fell asleep before we had made it two blocks! So much for his first Halloween!

Because Ryan did fall asleep so soon, and it was such a warm night, Evan went to twice as many houses as he had last time... and he came back with...

Seriously... what am I going to do with all that candy????????

The future Gene Simmons

I tried all day to get a picture of Ryan with his tongue hanging out that WASN'T blurry, but squirm boy wouldn't cooperate. So you get this:

Mostly, he likes to grab for the camera whenever he sees it.

While I had the camera out, I was able to snap this cute picture of my two sick boys together. Ryan totally adores being with his big brother... and Evan can't seem to get enough of his little brother.
