Sort of makes you appreciate our screwed up health care.

Today was the first time in my life I ever had to wait in line for health care and I got turned away.

The H1N1 vaccine has been very limited in it's availability, and today was a "mass" (and I use that term simple because that's what the Health Dept has been calling it) immunization. They had 7000 doses (for ALL of Salt Lake County, which is why I chuckle at the term "mass"since there are over a million people who live in the county). The 7000 doses were split between 4 locations. The closest one to me was to have 2000. They were only giving the doses to a certain demographic, which both of my boys fell into.

The doors opened at 7, so I thought arriving by 6, given the fact that it had been raining all night, would give me a chance at being in the top 2000.

And when they counted back the the line a little after 7, Ryan, Evan and I were just below the 1200 mark. I was happy. I figured we would be waiting in line for another 3 hours to actually get in the door, but at least they would be getting the shot. (With Ryan's heart and Evan's asthma, they are both on the danger list if they actually contract the flu.)

45 mins later, State Trooper is walking down the line telling us that they are out, and we can go home. (I was now at least 3000 people back.)

It appears that most of the people in line before us were holding spots in the line for their 50 friends who all showed up after the count had been done.

Now, I can understand in the wee hours of the morning when some of these people arrived, keeping the kids in the car. BUT they didn't do the first count until after 7, which means that they weren't in line when the clinic opened.

And as far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't have gotten the shot. Especially when there were THOUSANDS of people who HAD waited in line, WITH LITTLE CHILDREN.

Seriously, there were probably close to 10000 people in line, because at I wasn't even a third of the way back.

Okay, I feel a slight bit better now that I've vented....

Hello.

My name is Ryan.

I'm pretty cute, and I don't mind using my cute little dimples to get exactly what I want.
Yesterday a reporter told the www that I was 2. He also misspelled a word in his article. Nice.
I have two teeth now. AND I'm crawling. Truth be told though, I prefer to cruise and often show mom my stubborn side by refusing to bend at the waist.

When I'm tired, I become the biggest wiggle worm on the planet, which always confuses mom, because in the exhausted state I like to keep her, her higher brain function is a little slow.
My FAVORITE thing to do though has to be take baths with my big brother. He splashes a lot, and it makes me giggle.
Oh, and I've mastered the art of the fake cry.
Mom is in for quite the ride.

Blogs are easier...

When you Internet connection at home works.

Brief updates:

Ryan:
Still no forward crawling. He's standing like a champ now though, so I'm thinking we might move into cruising before crawling.
His hives are finally starting to ease... Still haven't completely isolated the issue, but I've narrowed it down to either the carpet or something in the laundry.

Evan:
His school pictures make him look soooooo mature. Honestly, where'd my baby go?
He's loving school, but hates to wake up in the morning. This week has been esp hard since Mark is out of town, and I leave the house at least 30 mins earlier. Any advice on how to keep a 6 year old moving in the morning would be appreciated.)

Mark:
Left town on Sunday and won't be back until Friday night... LATE. I miss him. When I talked to him last night though, he seemed much less stressed than he has the last few weeks, so hopefully getting this job off the to do list is helping.

Me:
We had Merry Maids come out yesterday and clean. Oh. My. Gosh. My house hasn't been this clean since... well... March 14th. It's wonderful! I actually felt comfortable in my house last night. I sat on the couch and wasn't thinking of 50 things I should be doing instead.

That is my quick post.

I promise to return to semi regular posting as soon as Mark comes home and figures out what is wrong with my computer.
